AskJeannie ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at askjeannie.com. We provide a restaurant discovery and dish rating platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use information when you use our service.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information: When you create an account we collect your email address and a hashed password.
  • Profile information: Restaurant owners provide a restaurant name, address, description, and menu details.
  • Rating data: When you rate a dish we record your rating, any written review, the dish, and a timestamp.
  • Usage data: We collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and referrer URLs for security and analytics purposes.
  • Uploaded content: Restaurant owners may upload photos which are stored securely.

3. How we use your information

  • To provide, operate, and improve the AskJeannie platform
  • To authenticate your account and prevent fraud
  • To display dish ratings and restaurant information to other users
  • To send transactional emails (account verification, password reset)
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. Data storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (PostgreSQL) hosted on cloud infrastructure in the United States. We apply row-level security policies to ensure users can only access data they are authorised to see.

5. Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or similar services that track you across the web.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, email privacy@askjeannie.com.

7. Third-party services

We use Google Maps / Places API to help restaurant owners find and import their location. Address lookups are subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated by email to registered users. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
